Dodge RamBox Tonneau Cover
The Dodge RamBox is quite a pickup truck, and with it's new design, producing a tonneau cover to compliment the innovative nature of the truck would be a challenge. There were handful of tonneau cover companies that shot out of the cannon almost immediately after the Rambox was released, but being that gung-ho can come with it's fair share of problems. So, despite the truck being truly cool, most initial releases of tonneau covers were very much "grandpa's tonneau cover" reconfigured to fit with the RamBox. In short, they were reminiscent of wolves in sheep's clothing.
So, when a team of engineers from BAK Industries was commissioned to design a new tonneau cover for the Dodge Rambox we were all pretty excited to see what would ultimately emerge. Knowing that products like the BakFlip and the Step-n-Stow had resulted from the minds at BAK, it would be a long six months of anticipation before we finally got to see the end result of their efforts. And boy was it worth the wait!
The new BAK Tonneau Cover for the Dodge Rambox took a really cool looking truck and put it into a whole new stratosphere. The tonneau would comprise the best of the patented, innovative features of the BakFlip F1, which meant that the cover would be "NO PROILE". Yes folks, that's flusher than any other flush-mount tonneau cover, sitting precisely level with the inside edge of the truck box. From an aesthetic standpoint, it simply cannot get any better. But that's not where it ends, not by a long shot.
As with all hard tonneau covers, you lose the ability to gain full access to your truck bed. Not so with the new BakFlip for the Dodge Ram. The tonneau cover design allows for full and easy access to your entire truck bed. Also, you get full use of the Ram Boxes with the tonneau cover open, semi open or closed. No loss of benefits or features whatsoever.
The BakFlip also integrates perfectly with the tailgate, cargo management system, as you would expect from an OE designed tonneau cover.
The top surface of the tonneau cover is made from a Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP) which means it stays cooler to the touch than aluminum and cannot ding in heavy hail storms or from regular daily wear and tear.
The new RamBox tonneau by BAK is also a no drill application, integrating with the new cargo management rail system like a match made in heaven. You even get use of your tie downs, so often lost when installing a tonneau cover in conjunction with cargo management systems. In fact, the entire tonneau cover makes use of the CMS in the Dodge Rambox, even to the extent that special drain valves attach to all four corners of the CMS rails to filter unwanted water from the top of the BakFlip tonneau cover to preexisting drain holes in the truck bed.
Some things are worth waiting for and in this instance, the new Dodge Ram Tonneau Cover by BAK is no exception. A huge 2 thunbs up, high five and salute to the BAK engineering team. That's what America's really all about. Innovation, passion and giving folks what they really want!

This is really a great set up – especially paired with the cargo management rail system. I like the looks, accessibility, and the fact that it’s a solid cover. I’ve seen these at this site along with other types of your covers. As you say, some things ARE worth the wait. You’ve got a good one here! Keep ‘em coming!

One thing the description didn’t mention is if the cover can be locked. Can it??

Yes. All you need to do is lock your tailgate. If your tailgate doesn’t lock, we can provide a lock for you.

On a Dodge Ram 1500 short box, I have a plastic covering already installed on the edges of the box. It is at most 1/8″ thick. Does that mean I need shims or not to install your rail clamps?
Thanks – it’s cold so I’d love to know quick!
