Coming soon

As always, anything that sports the distinctive BAK logo usually denotes something cool, something different, something innovative and something built to impress. Being privy to all that BAK has on the burner at any given time is exciting to say the least. I can tell you that there are a variety of creatively awesome products that we should see come out of the BAK stable between now and 2011.

Here’s a look at the new Anchor-Bak tie downs:

Another product that I feel is particularly hot is the new Step-n-Stow running board. BAK Industries has taken the mundane, boring running board that we all know and have seen before and spiced it up with “BAK”ism’s. What we have done is incorporated full length, lockable storage / tool-boxes into the running board. Imagine that! Instead of just a running board that you step on, you now have a fantastic storage facility on both sides of the truck that are easier to access than regular toolboxes, store a huge amount of valuables and are located in an area that would otherwise just be a waste of space. Best of all, you now get to use any BAK tonneau cover on your truck bed, as your storage boxes are now moved to an area that’s more practical, without taking up valuable space in the bed of your truck.

Please advise me on how to route or install the drain tubes through the bed on a 2010 toyota tacoma?

  5. Posted May 24, 2010 at 10:58 am | Permalink

There are two kinds of Tacoma beds. One is typically known as the long bed or extended cab and has a 6′ inch bed, the other is the double cab and has a 5′ bed.

With regard to the latter (5′ bed / double cab): There are cubby holes (storage boxes) on the side walls of the truck, close to the front of the cab. These storage areas are a perfect place to run the hoses. They have drain holes on the bottom of this recessed area, so just draping the hoses into these “boxes” will do the trick.

On the longer bed: there are 2 options: There are already small holes on the floor of the truck (in the corners). These can be opened larger with a 3/4 inch drill bit and the tubes run out accordingly. Alternatively, you can get a simple reducer from any plumbing supply house or home depot and reduce the diameter of the drain tube down to where it will just fit through the existing small drain hole. I’ve even seen people use small oil funnels which will do the trick just as well.

I just recently purchased a 2011 F-350 and was hoping that you have one available I know you have one for the F-250 can you clarify that they will also fit the new 2011 F-350 6.5 box. By the way what a tremendous looking and practical design. I am also looking for a dealer in my area of Regina saskatchewan any chance ?

    Hi Jonathan,

The BakFlip is available for both the Ford F250 and F350 models in long and short bed styles. They will also fit the 2011 models of ford trucks as well. We have a very large distributor in your province in Saskatoon called Grandwest Enterprises. They can also help refer you to a dealer / installer in your neck of the woods should you need one.

Thanks Julian what about Canada Truck Accessories in Regina. Considering the fact that Grandwest has been bad mouthing your product in order to sell solid fold.

  9. Posted December 11, 2010 at 2:03 pm | Permalink

That’s most surprising, considering they do so well with the product. Do you recall who it was that’s been saying anything negative. I have to imagine they’re getting paid to do so. Either way it’s something I’d like to address. In the interim, if you feel more comfortable buying from another outfit, any of our hundreds of dealers in Canada would be happy to help you and we’d extend the same customer service, warranty and support regardless.

BTW: If you can give me 3 convincing reasons why solid fold is even remotely in the same ballpark as the BakFlip, I’ll buy you the cover myself. Honestly, there’s no comparison. From style, function, design, ease of use, the ability to use products like tie-downs, rails, toolboxes, racks etc., the BakFlip absolutely smokes the Solid Fold. It’s actually not even worth drawing comparisons and is most unfortunate that people feel compelled to do so. It’s like comparing a BMW to a Hyundai. Both are cars, but not in the same league.

I’m seriously looking at getting a backflip. I wanted to know if there are any plans of adding a top mounted lock release on the panel against the tailgate(like in the fold-a-cover or advance cover)? I would hate to get one and then a month or two later it’s released.

  11. Posted January 10, 2011 at 11:18 pm | Permalink

    Hi Dan,

Since you can still open the tailgate, even when one of those other covers are locked, we just don’t see the point. All it means is having to carry 2 sets of keys and risk exposure to the elements. As such, we have no plans whatsoever to release a cover with top keyholes. We prefer concealed locking that relies on oem key systems.

I just had my Bakflip CS installed on my 2010 F150. I purchased a kayak and bike carrier to mount on the rack and I love it. It’s the only product out their that allowed me full access to my truck bed and works with a rack. Now I want the toolbox!

Hi. I am looking to by one of your Bakflip covers but am not sure which one I need. I have a 2010 F150 Platinum shortbed and need a cover to secure things in the bed. The bed does have a sprayed-in liner and the truck is used for pleasure and family use. I do put an ATV in it when I go hunting. Which one do you recomend that would be best? Thanks.

I’d go with the bakflip g2. It’s affordable and you get everything you need out of a strong, hard, secure, do-it-all tonneau cover. For your truck, use part number 26307.

I’m considering an F1 for my 2011 F250. Will I be able to open and close the tailgate while the last section of the cover remains closed?

In my opinion the drainage system for the G2 does not compliment the apperance of the cover and appears a little “make shift” or temporary.
I have set up an alternate system that I think really looks neat and fitted, should work equally as well and does not attract attention.
If you are interested I will send pictures and discribe, it might be something you would like to consider or offer as an alternative for purchasers.

I’m interested in getting a tailgate step. In fact my daughter wants to buy me one for Christmas.

I can’t seem to find one for sale anywhere on the net. Are they on the market yet?

Just installed the G2 on my 2012 Tacoma. Love it! Thanks for making such good stuff. Installation was klutz proof which I need.

Just picked up a 2012 F 150 Platinum 4 door with 5 1/2 foot bed. Has factory installed bed liner with bed extender and tie down loops. Have viewed instalation video several times for G2. Looks like I have to remove bed extender and tiedowns to slide bed out enough to drill drainage holes through metal bed (plastic inserts) and then drill bed liner. Correct? what model would you recommend (?162309?)
    Thanks
