BakBox RS for Soft Roll-Up covers

The new BakBox toolbox has been an overwhelming hit and received as one of the best new products available for trucks equipped with BakFlip tonneau covers, since the advent of the BakFlip itself. So, it stood to reason that BAK Industries would produce a similar BakBox toolbox for all soft roll-up tonneau covers like the Truxedo and Access brands of tonneaus. The result is absolutely fantastic. SEMA 2010 will be the place where the new BakBox RS is unveiled and it is undoubtedly going to be the hit of the show. Here's sneak peak at what folks will be seeing compliment their roll-up tonneau covers in 2011.

What to know when combining a toolbox with a tonneau cover

There are tons of different kinds of toolboxes on the market. Regardless of which one you choose to fit on your truck, you should know that if you intend to add a tonneau cover at a later date, you should be aware of certain issues which will undoubtedly leave you wishing you'd run into this blog before you pulled the trigger.

First off, a traditional toolbox that spans the back of your truck will leave gaps between the box and the cab wall of your truck, so adding any kind of tonneau cover later will not be water tight. Water will most certainly get in behind your toolbox, so buyer beware.

My suggestion is to look at the new bak box by Bak Industries as a better solution. Let me know if you agree, disagree or simply have an opinion.

BakFlip folding toolbox for BakFlip tonneau covers

For the past few years BAK Industries has been working on a revolutionary new concept of combining a toolbox / cargo box to integrate with BakFlip tonneau covers. The idea would be to incorporate a cross the bed style box (suspended on the side rails) with the panels that make up the BakFlip cover. Since the panels on a BakFlip cover are patented to be able to open up behind your cab like the lid of a toolbox, BAK's idea was to use the panels themselves as the lid of the box. It's a brilliant idea that is soon to be released to all those folks that own a BakFlip tonneau cover. Give us your feedback and let us know what you think? In the meantime, here's a sneak peak at a demo model still in the R&D stage. The final product is scheduled to be released in early November 2010.
