BakFlip CS

BakFlip CS

Being the forward thinking company that BAK Industries is, we recognized that the BakFlip tonneau cover was all things to everyone, as it was really the only tonneau cover to let you use your truck like a truck. We quickly realized however, that there are folks out there that need more than just bed space. They need to really put their trucks to work. After some research, it became apparent that it was pretty much impossible to have a hard tonneau cover on your truck and still use a ladder rack. That’s why we set out to create a tonneau cover that allowed full use of the truck bed, full security when needed and also allow it to be used with a highly functional sports / contractors rack. The result – The BAKFLIP CS!

The BakFlip CS installs and operates exactly the same way as a regular BakFlip tonneau cover. That is, the rails of the tonneau cover simply clamps to the side of your truck bed with just 3 or 4 clamps on either side and then the BakFlip seamlessly attaches to the rails.

BakFlip CS

The genius of the BakFlip CS is in the design of its rails. The CS rails have an integrated extrusion built into them that accommodates the BAK sliding rack system. Once the BakFlip CS is clamped on and installed, the rails allow you to easily slide the rack system to any position up and down the sides of the truck provided incredible versatility and function.

BakFlip CS Rail System

The BakFlip CS rails also accommodate functional accessories such as sliding tie downs so that you can secure a load in your bed or a load on your rack. This convenient and brilliant functionality is unique to the BakFlip CS.

The BakFlip CS allows you to lock up all your tools or gear under the hard secure panels of the BakFlip cover and still haul large items like canoes, lumber etc. on the rack.

BakFlip CS rails and rack cross members are made from strong aluminum and powder coated with a rugged black finish. The rack is designed to handle extreme use and cannot rust or corrode at all. The BakFlip CS rack uprights are made from laser cut, unbreakable stainless steel and then powder coated match the rest of the accents of the cover, rails and cross members.

Ultimately, the BakFlip CS is as much a piece of art as it is a stylish, practical, functional, state of the art tonneau cover and rack combination. It operates seamlessly and is built tough. It truly is the ultimate piece of equipment for outdoor enthusiasts, contractors, surfers, kayakers, skiers etc.

Another fantastic advantage of the BakFlip CS is how modular it is. The system can be setup within minutes to give your truck the appearance of a contractor or outdoor guru, but can just as easily convert to a sleek, low profile ride that sports nothing but a stealth tonneau cover. The options are many and the downside is really non existent.

In years past it would have been necessary to install a small, space limiting toolbox across the back of your bed in conjunction with some sort of aftermarket rack. This old-school approach is honestly completely opposite to BAK’s vision. Now your whole bed becomes a lockable trunk that integrates with a seamless, sliding rack. N=There’s no more need to have a bulky toolbox on the back of your truck that takes up valuable space and causes the rest of your bed to be exposed.

Once you acquaint yourself with the BakFlip CS you will soon see why BAK Industries is the leader in the tonneau cover industry today.

I have a 2010 Tacoma with a 6 foot bed and like what I have seen and am considering getting a Bakflip CS. I need to be able to haul 2 fifteen foot double kayaks for long distances through an area with strong cross winds. Figure combined weight of the two kayaks at around 175 pounds. In one of your videos, it looked like when lumber was loaded on the rack, it swayed. This kind of concerned me. Will the CS rack support this load and usage?

It’s funny that you say that! I actually was personally a little upset that the rack hadn’t been properly secured when we shot the video and the clip made its way into the final cut of that movie. However, I can say with certainty, that the racks are extremely secure and will not sway at all. The rack in the vid was not tightened. It had been slid into the tracks, but the bolts weren’t twisted, so it appears as if the rack is flimsy. The good news is that it is not flimsy at all. They will easily handle 500 lbs. The CS is a killer setup. If all you have is roughly 200 lbs, you’ll absolutely LOVE the BakFlip CS!

    I’ve got a bakflip g2.
I’m wondering if I can buy the cs rack on its own? or would I have to buy the whole cs rack and cover combo?

Ps love my bakflip. This best thing I have ever bought for my truck.

    Thanks
    Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan,

You can definitely buy just the CS rails and rack on it’s own. Just call us at the factory at (818) 365-9000 and we’ll get you squared away.

Considering a BAKFlip CS for my new Colorado. Does the CS include the HD cover or the F1 cover. The BAKFlip.com website has no info. The bakfliptonneau cover.com website says F1. The specs listed at the bakflipfactoryoutlet.com seem to indicate that the cover is an HD. I have also seen two Model/PN’s listed : 72106BT and 26106BT. I would prefer the F1 as it would not get as hot in the South Florida sun!!! Thanks.

The 72106BT is an F1 cover. The other will ship with the HD cover. Both units will function the same way.

I am considering a BakFlip CS for my new truck. One of the things I did not see in the demos is how to secure Flip sections if you need to drive with the back one or two Flips open. Do you have any videos or pictures illustrating this configuration?

I am curious about the same thing as the above comment. How are sections secured that are left open.

    Hi:
Will a 2011 Ram 2500 Crew Cab with 6.5′ bed work with the BacFlip CS?

You simply use the provided D-rings located both on top and under the cover to secure the panels.

I have a 2010 tundra with new deck rails with tie down cleats. I am considering a bakflip cs(which top is included,g2,f1,or hd). If BFCS is installed, will i still be able to use the factory tie downs? If so I’m sold!

I like the F1 but occasionally I need racks for stand up paddle boards. Most of time I will not need the racks. I have a 2011 Raptor. I am worried that the profile of the CS rails might take away from the look. I really like the flush look of the F1. Do you have any close-up shots of the CS rails? What is the height of the CS rails? How do the CS rails attach? If I get the F1 now, would I need to replace the rails with the CS rails if I purchase the CS at a later point in time?

  16. Posted August 9, 2011 at 5:20 pm | Permalink

The cs rails are themselves very low profile and the racks can easily slide off to give you a nice clean look. I think that their utility value and rugged, yet clean appearance serves to compliment the Raptor. As far as install goes, the system just clamps on. No drilling and it only takes a few minutes to install each rail. All in all, if your a kayaker or haul a canoe, the bakflip cs and raptor are a match made in heaven!

I’ve recently purchased a 2010 Ram 1500 Crew cab w/out Ram box. I’m tracing all the models you guys make I only have a few questions before I purchase one of your covers. The CS model is what will work best for me, however:

    1. I understand the racks (uprights) are removeable. Are the channels which the racks translate and friction clamp to removeable during periods of non rack use, ie winter in MT and no canoeing?

    2. How do can I have the F1 cover with the CS racks? It appears you may have answered that question already but I wanted to make sure that was possible. If so pricing?

    3. How much bed space will I loose to hauling my numerous motorcycles? Dirtbikes, 50cc ~450cc; Street bike 06 RC-51 (on this issue I want to ensure I can expect to mitigate or not fender clearance issues.)

    4. Motorcycle hauling. Are there any concerns with the force applied to the hinge/system when hauling them with the cover in the fully open/locked postion?

    5. Where do the anti scuff cushions make contact with the truck when in the fully open position? The back glass or the painted surfaces of the truck?

Thanks for taking the time. I’m ready to order today other than those nagging concerns for me anyway. Thanks again.

I have recently been looking at rack systems for my truck and have searched several of your dealers in Red Deer Alberta. I was amazed when they did not even know that your cs existed and being a proud owner and not wanting to buy a cap or have a rack with a open box. I went home and straight to your site. To my relief I found out that you have a rack system that works with my flip cover. Soooo long story short, you guys will be getting a price check from one your dealers up here. I am also tempted just to order it right from you guys, is that possible?

Are there kayak saddles and other accessories that are available for this system? If so, where can I find the info?

    Thanks.

I have fork-mount bike racks that attach to the front rail on my Tacoma. Are those still usable with the BakFlip installed and in the fully open position?

    Thanks!
