Honda Ridgeline Tonneau Covers

Honda Ridgeline tonneau covers come in all forms, be it soft or hard, however not all are equal. Certainly, I find the OEM Honda Ridgeline tonneau cover to be a complete abortion of a tonneau. To be honest, most of the tonneau covers for Honda Ridgeline out there are not very well thought out. Specifically, the Ridgeline is a truck that is configured dramatically differently to most conventional pickup trucks. Where all other trucks beds are higher at the tailgate and lower at the cab end, the Ridgeline is opposite. Where other trucks have rails to which you can clamp things, the Ridgeline does not. Where most trucks have a conventional cab wall, bulkhead rail and a metal bed, the Ridgeline has no bulkhead rail and has a composite bed with a trunk in the floor. All of these unique attributes present a design challenge for Tonneau cover manufacturers, none of whom really stepped up, including OEM until the release of the new BakFlip tonneau cover for the Honda Ridgeline.

The new BakFlip tonneau cover installs with no drilling, making use of the few provided attachment points along the side walls of the Ridgeline and at the cab end of the truck bed. Unlike the OEM Honda Ridgeline tonneau cover, the BakFlip tonneau cover for Honda Ridgelines take just about 20 minutes to install, instead of hours. Best of all, you need just a single star headed screw driver to do the whole job.

In addition, the BakFlip is the only hard tonneau cover that will wll you to use 100% of your Ridgeline bed. This stands the BakFlip alone at the top of the heap in a pile of sub par tonneau covers that have multiple flaws beyond just limited access. All other hard tonneau covers for the Ridgeline that we tested proved to be a hinderance to the floor trunk when opening and closing it because the rails got in the way. Not so with BakFlip, who rails are slim enough to allow you to open the trunk with no problem.

Security in an issue when it comes to Ridgelines as their tailgates don't lock, but thanks to Poop n Lock and another company named Dyno Lock, this is no longer a problem. For a modest fee you can select form both manual or automatic locks.

Tonneau Covers made in the USA

While there are more than just a few tonneau cover companies in the USA, I can say with certainty that not all of the tonneau covers sold in North America are made in the USA. Even when certain tonneau covers are claimed to be made in the USA, much if not all of their components are actually made in places like China, which begs the question: Are these tonneau covers really made in the USA? In my opinion, they are not and it drives me nuts when claims to the contrary are made.

BAK Tonneau covers are made in the USA

One thing I know for sure is that all BAK Tonneau Covers are made 100% in the USA, by US citizens on US soil. Every nut, bolt, screw, rivet, rubber component and aluminum extrusion is supplied by US companies within the USA. There is not a single component in any BAK tonneau cover that is made in China or anywhere else other than the USA. It is my contention that doing so results in a far better product, with better control over quality and better customer support. Overall, consumer satisfaction is at the heart of the matter as far as I'm concerned.

As a matter of pride and a matter of quality, BAK Industries will always maintain a strict approach to ensuring that when we say our covers are made in the USA, there's no ambiguity or grey area on the issue.

I would very much like your opinions on whether you feel that tonneau covers that are comprised of components made largely in China should be allowed to be deemed or advertised to be made in the USA? Let me know what you think?

Tonneau covers with better load capacity

When it comes to tonneau covers that offer maximum access to your truck bed, most folks will entertain a retractable tonneau cover like the RollBak. One thing which is oftentimes overlooked with a retractable tonneau cover howver, is the fact that in order for the cover to retract it has to run on a set of rails. These rails generally work great, however they do affect the width of the truck bed. That's because most retractable tonneau covers rails extend inwards inside the bed. This can preclude the use of valuable accessories such as bed extenders, certain types of toolboxes etc.

BakFlip tonneau covers take up less space

A BakFlip tonneau cover is cut to follow the exact lines and contours of the truck bed. As such, the BakFlip sits on a rail that's less than an inch in thickness, ensuring that in addition to being the worlds only tonneau cover to offer full access to your truck bed, it also takes up less space from side to side. This added advantage renders the BakFlip the choice of folks world wide who rely on accessories such as bed extenders or who generally just need all the width and length that they can get out of their pickup truck.
