BakBox does for the toolbox what BakFlip does for the tonneau cover.

The BakFlip tonneau cover changed the landscape of the tonneau cover arena. For the first time, a hard tonneau cover on your truck didn't mean sacrificing your valuable payload capability. By folding away completely, you could now have a hard tonneau cover on your truck and when you needed to load the truck with large gear, you simply folded the BakFlip out of the way, as if it wasn't even there.
Now BAK Industries is about to shake things up again by turning their focus to the toolbox arena. Since toolboxes take up valuable space inside your truck bed and are pretty much a permanent fixture, your ability to lock up your tools comes with a price. Not so say the engineers at BAK. The BakBox will do for the toolbox what the BakFlip did for the tonneau cover. There when you need it and gone when you don't.
This raw video footage was recently shot at Galpin Ford, the largest Ford Dealership in the world where they install BakFlip tonneau covers on 80% of their trucks sold. If you're like Bert Boeckmann, the owner of Galpin, I'm sure you'll agree with his enthusiasm that the new BakBox is about to turn an entire industry on its ear again.
Racks and tonneaus for Honda Ridgeline
For the longest time now we've been asked whether we can recommend a rack that will work with a tonneau cover for the Honda Ridgeline. Even though our BakFlip CS system provides folks an unparalleled advantage for most trucks, the Honda Ridgeline was always one that seemed to stump us. So, I was really thrilled recently to learn that a new rack system had been developed by a company called Vantech. It would seem that they offer a very nice array of racks for the Honda Ridgeline.
As great as the Ridgeline is as a truck, it seems to lack in the way of accessories. The good news is that this is America and our challenges seem to breed innovation. Congratulations to Vantech for rising to the challenge and coming out with a new rack system for Honda Ridgeline owners that is sure to put a smile on their faces. Couple the new honda ridgeline rack with their OEM tonneau cover, or better yet one of the incredible new BakFlip tonneau covers for the Ridgeline and you'll have one of the most versatile trucks on the market!
BakFlip – The perfect tonneau cover for recreation!
Recently a friend of mine took his boat out for a day of fun in California. He was so impressed with his BakFlip cover and how it improved his overall experience, from towing his boat, to handling and accessing his gear, to performing as a bench to securing his stuff while on the water. He documented it for us and shared his experience and I thought I would add it to this blog. Pictures speak volumes and as such, I thought I'd share some of the great images he sent to us. Let me know your thoughts? Pay attention to how versatile the BakFlip is and how cool the new fold-a-way BakBox works as well. I'd be very interested in hearing from all of you out there.
BakBox – The cargo management / toolbox for BakFlip covers

Well folks, it's finally here! The first BakBox has just been approved by us at BAK Industries. For those that are not yet familiar with this awesome product, the BakBox is a collapsable cargo / toolbox that snaps onto the rail of any BakFlip tonneau cover. When it's installed, nobody will even know that it's there. It is sleek, unassuming and exceptionally well designed. The new BakBox is certainly in keeping with the superior nature of the BakFlip tonneau cover and will undoubtedly add a wealth of added features and benefits to an already stellar product.
The BakBox is designed from the same panels as the BakFlip tonneau cover. It folds up neatly in shipping, thereby eliminating potential damage as well as being able to store and ship effectively. There is no installation required to add a BakBox to your truck either.
The folded panels of the BakFlip tonneau cover actually act as the heavy duty lid of your BakBox. It is far stronger than any other toolbox lid. You can sit or stand on it without any problem at all.
The BakBox also has cool sliding trays that ensure convenient cargo management of those smaller items like tape measures, nuts and bolts or even a wallet.
BakFlip passion. You’ve gotta love it!
BAK industries is really proud to be able to say that most of its retailers have first hand experience with the BakFlip cover. In fact, some of them were customers that were so impressed after buying a BakFlip tonneau cover, that they decided to quit their current jobs and become BakFlip dealers. Such are the impressive qualitites of the BakFlip product and brand.
One such person is Morrie Eisenman, owner of www.bakfactoryoutlet.com. Morrie is super passionate about BakFlip tonneau covers and can be relied upon to offer sound and valuable advice and guidance to anyone in the market for a new tonneau cover, rack, toolbox, bedliner or related accessory. Here's what he has to say about his own BakFlip tonneau cover and why he loves doing what he does. It's this sort of passion that seems to resonate with anyone who owns a BAK tonneau cover.
New Tonneau Box – Invisible cargo box for trucks with tonneau covers
For the past few years BAK Industries has been working on a revolutionary new concept of combining a toolbox / cargo box to integrate with BakFlip tonneau covers. The idea would be to incorporate a cross the bed style box (suspended on the side rails) with the panels that make up the BakFlip cover. Since the panels on a BakFlip cover are patented to be able to open up behind your cab like the lid of a toolbox, BAK's idea was to use the panels themselves as the lid of the box. It's a brilliant idea that is soon to be released to all those folks that own a BakFlip tonneau cover. Give us your feedback and let us know what you think? In the meantime, here's a sneak peak at a demo model still in the R&D stage. The final product is scheduled to be released in early November 2010.Honda Ridgeline Tonneau Covers
Honda Ridgeline tonneau covers come in all forms, be it soft or hard, however not all are equal. Certainly, I find the OEM Honda Ridgeline tonneau cover to be a complete abortion of a tonneau. To be honest, most of the tonneau covers for Honda Ridgeline out there are not very well thought out. Specifically, the Ridgeline is a truck that is configured dramatically differently to most conventional pickup trucks. Where all other trucks beds are higher at the tailgate and lower at the cab end, the Ridgeline is opposite. Where other trucks have rails to which you can clamp things, the Ridgeline does not. Where most trucks have a conventional cab wall, bulkhead rail and a metal bed, the Ridgeline has no bulkhead rail and has a composite bed with a trunk in the floor. All of these unique attributes present a design challenge for Tonneau cover manufacturers, none of whom really stepped up, including OEM until the release of the new BakFlip tonneau cover for the Honda Ridgeline.
The new BakFlip tonneau cover installs with no drilling, making use of the few provided attachment points along the side walls of the Ridgeline and at the cab end of the truck bed. Unlike the OEM Honda Ridgeline tonneau cover, the BakFlip tonneau cover for Honda Ridgelines take just about 20 minutes to install, instead of hours. Best of all, you need just a single star headed screw driver to do the whole job.
In addition, the BakFlip is the only hard tonneau cover that will wll you to use 100% of your Ridgeline bed. This stands the BakFlip alone at the top of the heap in a pile of sub par tonneau covers that have multiple flaws beyond just limited access. All other hard tonneau covers for the Ridgeline that we tested proved to be a hinderance to the floor trunk when opening and closing it because the rails got in the way. Not so with BakFlip, who rails are slim enough to allow you to open the trunk with no problem.
Security in an issue when it comes to Ridgelines as their tailgates don't lock, but thanks to Poop n Lock and another company named Dyno Lock, this is no longer a problem. For a modest fee you can select form both manual or automatic locks.
Tonneau Covers made in the USA
While there are more than just a few tonneau cover companies in the USA, I can say with certainty that not all of the tonneau covers sold in North America are made in the USA. Even when certain tonneau covers are claimed to be made in the USA, much if not all of their components are actually made in places like China, which begs the question: Are these tonneau covers really made in the USA? In my opinion, they are not and it drives me nuts when claims to the contrary are made.
One thing I know for sure is that all BAK Tonneau Covers are made 100% in the USA, by US citizens on US soil. Every nut, bolt, screw, rivet, rubber component and aluminum extrusion is supplied by US companies within the USA. There is not a single component in any BAK tonneau cover that is made in China or anywhere else other than the USA. It is my contention that doing so results in a far better product, with better control over quality and better customer support. Overall, consumer satisfaction is at the heart of the matter as far as I'm concerned.
As a matter of pride and a matter of quality, BAK Industries will always maintain a strict approach to ensuring that when we say our covers are made in the USA, there's no ambiguity or grey area on the issue.
I would very much like your opinions on whether you feel that tonneau covers that are comprised of components made largely in China should be allowed to be deemed or advertised to be made in the USA? Let me know what you think?
Tonneau covers with better load capacity
When it comes to tonneau covers that offer maximum access to your truck bed, most folks will entertain a retractable tonneau cover like the RollBak. One thing which is oftentimes overlooked with a retractable tonneau cover howver, is the fact that in order for the cover to retract it has to run on a set of rails. These rails generally work great, however they do affect the width of the truck bed. That's because most retractable tonneau covers rails extend inwards inside the bed. This can preclude the use of valuable accessories such as bed extenders, certain types of toolboxes etc.
A BakFlip tonneau cover is cut to follow the exact lines and contours of the truck bed. As such, the BakFlip sits on a rail that's less than an inch in thickness, ensuring that in addition to being the worlds only tonneau cover to offer full access to your truck bed, it also takes up less space from side to side. This added advantage renders the BakFlip the choice of folks world wide who rely on accessories such as bed extenders or who generally just need all the width and length that they can get out of their pickup truck.
